This set covers the horses people most often ask for: an Arabian with its dished face and flagged tail, an American quarter horse at a ranch fence, a thoroughbred at full gallop, a Clydesdale in harness with feathered hooves, a spotted Appaloosa in a mountain meadow, a Friesian with its long mane, a pinto paint horse, a shaggy Shetland pony, a herd of wild mustangs on the plains, a mare with her foal, a horse and rider clearing a show jump, and a horse grazing at a fence as the sun goes down. Each page shows one subject in a setting that suits it, so the set reads as a series of small portraits rather than generic horse outlines.

The drawings follow the conventions of published equine coloring books: correct proportions and leg structure, breed markings drawn as line pattern, bold outlines on the horse and lighter lines for fences, grass and hills, with every region closed.
