Fish Coloring Pages

About this set

This set is organized by where the fish live. The pond and aquarium pages come first: two koi circling each other among lily pads, a betta with long flowing fins, a fancy goldfish with a double tail, and a freshwater angelfish among aquarium plants. Then freshwater game fish: a largemouth bass leaping for a dragonfly beside the reeds, a rainbow trout over river stones, and a sockeye salmon jumping a waterfall. The saltwater pages finish the set: a mahi-mahi with its tall blunt forehead, a lionfish with its spines fanned out, a pufferfish blown up into a spiky ball, a barracuda slipping through sea grass, and a swordfish breaking the surface.

Each fish keeps the shape and markings that identify it, so a trout reads as a trout and not a generic fish outline. Scales, fin rays and spines are drawn as line, which gives you room to build color across the body; water, plants and rocks are drawn in lighter lines so the fish stays the focus. Every region is closed, and there is no shading or hatching anywhere.

Detail is pitched at adults and older children. For younger kids, the pufferfish, the mahi-mahi and the barracuda have the largest, simplest shapes. The koi, the salmon and the lionfish have the most intricate line work.
